JUNIOR HANDLING

I like handlers to try to establish a rappor between themselves and their dogs and believe it is something that should almost come naturally to Junior Handlers. So I particularly look for those who talk to and encourage their dogs rather than engage in fancy footwork.

6 – 11 yrs 12 Ent. 4ABS

1st Cerys Wright 10yrs. Good rappor . Alignments, change of direction and lead change all completed well and didn’t over crowd her dog.

2nd Bryony Pritchard 10yrs. Lost to 1st on presentation of the dog after movement.

3rd Laura Lewis 9yrs. 12 – 16yrs.

12-16 yrs. 9Ent 2ABS

1st & BJH ZINA SAUNDERS 14yrs.

Neat appearance followed my instructions to the letter, full attention on me and the dog, excellent empathy with the dog a first class presentation.

2nd ABBIE PRITCHARD 13yrs

With a steadier dog this handler would have pushed 1st. got the best out of this situation.

3rd  SARA EVANS 16yrs.

Junior Handling

6-11 years (2) 1 Jamie Zambas Adams (9), Papillon. Handled his showy dog well, used the ring shape and presented the Papillon well on the table. My only criticism is, he needs to listen carefully to the judge’s instructions. 2 Ebony Owen, Whippet. Ebony persisted to control her difficult dog, a handler to watch out for in the future.

12-16 yrs (7) 1 & BJH Alex Paisey (14) Deerhound. a polite handler who used the ring space to full advantage. In harmony with his dog performed a faultless T even with such a large breed. Presented the best of his dog constantly a true professional. 2 Ceri Jones (14). Poodle. Close to 1 but not as accurate with her shape and pace, but encouraged & controlled her dog well. 3 Hayley Johnston (12) Cocker. Lost to 1 & 2 due to her upset d who stopped the flow of her movement. However I could see her shape was well completed. She was able to control and relax the dog when she presented him. I feel with a steadier dog that she would threaten 1 & 2 more.

South Wales Papillons Club Open

2nd April 2006

It was an honour to be asked to judge the Junior Handling. It was pleasing to see that the juniors are still being encouraged by the club.

6-11years (4 entries, 1 Abs)

1st Phillipa Zambas-Adams aged 8, moved at correct pace and patterns where well defined. Table and Floor presentation could be improved. 2nd Shannon Dicks aged 10. 3rd Courtney Clark Campbell aged 6, Two novice handlers, remember the golden rule never place yourself between dog and judge.

12-16years (2 entries)

1st Amy Mason aged 13. Showed her dog to its best, with flare both on the floor and table. Patterns could have been better defined. Shadowed and change of hands smoothly.

2nd Jamie Zambas-Adams aged 14, patterns well defined, change of hands and shadowing needs to be smoother keep practicing!
